Children’s Ministry

Even though it’s way past Mother’s Day, I want to lift up young moms who are on the most important journey of their life.  Theyhave been given these new little lives to get to know.  We all realize the needs of a young child,but do we always remember the needs of our moms with babies and young children?Yes, dads are important too and I’ll make sure to give them their day innewsletter land.  This month is formoms.  When talking about the Gifts ofthe Spirit, the apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 13:13 “the three mostimportant things to have are faith, hope, and love but the greatest of them isLove”.   In today’s world moms face somany challenges to keep their children happy, healthy, and safe while doingtheir best to do so faithfully, hopefully and lovingly.  

I spend time each week out in the community with our neighbors who are in need of many things.  There are moms out there who are struggling with very little support and there are moms who have a great networkof support.  I’ve come to realize theyare all carrying one common burden: Am I good enough to be this little person’s mom.  So, when a mom has to step awayfrom her role out of exhaustion, lack of support or is in the grip of a devasting illness or addiction the one thing we can do is support them withloving grace.  

My prayer is that we, as a church family, always remember to nurture our new moms here atchurch and in the community. Give them grace to not always be “on”.  Let them be dischevelled, let them be late,let them be tired, let them have time to themselves, let them cry, let themhave a sick day, just let them without judgement.  Thank you God for each new little baby andeach mommy with young ones out there among us.
